Pioneers Potters Mackay Inc was established in 1975 and is a community group with a keen interest in all aspects of pottery. Our mission statement is: “Creating beautiful pottery while building community ties”. Pioneer Potters Mackay Inc is a place where local residents meet to work and play with a variety of clays and styles, be inspired, discuss, problem solve and contribute in financial and everyday ways to the functioning of the club.

This is an active, voluntary club. As well as making pottery, we source clay, glaze materials and tools, mix glazes, conduct sometimes weekly gas and electric kiln firings, fund raise, hold market stalls, and organise social events and workshops for members.

Pottery is an art form where the potter freely can express themselves through creativity. It is a hands-on art form where various creations can be made, ranging from a 5-minute bowl, for example, or to an in-depth sculpture.
At Pioneer Potters we have active and engaged members who gladly introduce the local community into the pottery craft. It is a way, not only to create, but to establish new connections and improve mental well-being.

The participants own creativity is the focus, and with simple guidance and instructions, a wide proportion of the community can create with clay. It’s a great way to de-stress, engage with a broad spectrum of members from our community and have a laugh.
